The first time I did it, I removed the inner fenders, so I could get behind them, and also did the inner bottoms of the doors through the door drains. I did that only the first time. I'm a fan of Fluid Film. Inherited a 2005 GMC with no rust 4 years ago, been hitting all the body seams (door, hood, rockers, brake lines, backside of both bumpers). Fluid film says if you need to thin it a bit you can use some oil like vegetable oil or mineral oil id have to look it up I wasn't interested in reducing it. I have maybe fix or six wands but just use one small one it works fine just slower but it gets into all kinds of places the gun cant get into.

Fluid Film has a good reputation but my understanding is that you have to re-apply every so often depending on how long your winter is. I recently bought an older rust-free pickup and brought it to Indiana from Florida. Folks, I have never done any rust-proofing until now, having driven winter beaters since I bought my first car 10 years ago. We bought a used (but I have done a bit of research and it looks like there are 3 main different methods to rust-proof your car, namely Krown, RustCheck and Corrosion-Free.

Rust proofing isn't a bad idea however if you don't really need it you can wait till next winter or maybe the one after. Like others have shown, fluid film is a cheaper alternative to spray on exposed parts.

Nov 08, 2007 · I have experimented with WD, Krown, Rust Check and 15W40. I will tell you in the spring if the FF is worth the money, but I can tell from spraying it on that it is good. I have a couple tractors sprayed with Krown, which is the best thing I have tried up untill this year. We will see how the FF compares against Krown in the spring.
Apr 02, 2016 · Any of the rust proofings that form a paint like film can do more damage than good, especially in doors. We tested some doors with rust proofing and without in salt spray for GM when I worked in the paint lab. The doors with rust proofing rusted much quicker along the seams than untreated.
It also sticks well and leaves a nice coating. It really helps prevent rust and corrosion. I sprayed some on the blade of my sub-soiler and it sat in the weather most of the summer without any rust forming. I will say that between the two, Fluid Film and white lithium spray I tend to grab the Fluid Film more often.
It seems Fluid Film, Krown and products like Corrosion-X are much preferred to harder coatings like Ziebart. I like the idea of Krown, but do not like the idea of letting them do it as to keep volume and productivity up (understandably so) they drill and plug the rockers, doors, etc.
